Default Full Southern Shiverpeak Solo Tour INCLUDING MOVIES

Hi there,

I'm probaly not the first one, but I decided to solo the whole Southern Shiverpeak Mountains. I also did this to try to solo things with the new armor/shield update. I've already soloed the following places:
Lornar's Pass
Snake Dance
Grenth's Footprint
Witmans Folly
Ice Floe
Talus Chute
Mineral Springs
Tasca's Demise
Missions
Iron Mines of Moladune
Ice Caves of Sorrow

Places/Missions I haven't tried yet:

Spearhead Peak
Ice Dome
Dreadnought's Drift
Thunderhead Keep

I've added only 2 movies yet. They are both from the Ice Caves of Sorrow guide, I'll add more soon

Ok the beginning of the Southern Shiverpeaks is in Lornar's Pass so I decided to begin my solo tour there. Here is what I did.
__________________________________________________ _______________

Lornar's Pass

Drops: Drops are ok, a lot of weapons which u can sell for at least 50gp at the merchant. Chests drops are mostly gold so don't forget keys.
Equipment:
Flatbow for Pulling mobs
15^50 Zealous sword of Defense.
+15%dmg while in a stance Zealous sword of Defense.
+30 hp / -5 (20% change) shield
+45 hp / -2 while in a stance shield
+60 hp / -3 while hexed shield
Armor:
Full Gladiators with Ascalon helm.
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:

Sever Artery
Epidemic
Victory is Mine! {E}
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Dolyak Signet
Elemental Resistance
Healing Signet

Step 1: Ok when you're in Lornar's Pass, go to the right. You'll see 1 or 2 Ice Imps with 1 or 2 Pinesouls. Use Elemental Resistance before you're going to attack, then use Sever Artery on the first Ice Imp and IF the other foe's are near them use Epidemic followed by Victory is Mine!

Step 2: If you want to solo 100% of Lornar's Pass you can also go to the left and kill the other Ice Imps, Ice Golems and Avicara. *Note: When fighting Ice Imps and Ice Golems, always use Elemental Resistance and switch to your +45hp / -2 stance shield!*

Step 3: Follow the road but watch out for the Frost Wurms. When they pop up, use your reposites to kill them. You can also switch to your +60 hp/ -3 shield when he casts Suffering.

Step 4: When you're at the beginning of the cave, try to lure the Avicara and kill them using Sever Artery, Epidemic, Reposites and Victory is Mine!

Step 5: Keep following the road and kill everthing you see. When you attack the Ice Golems, they'll cast Rust on you. Use your Elemental Resistance and Dolyak Signet to stay alive.

Step 6: Follow the road and go into the cave on your right hand. Also, dont forget the fight the Crone's and the Ice Golems.

Step 7: The Mountain Trolls might be hard but if u use your Ripostes, Sever Artery, Epidemic and your Victory is Mine wisely you'll make it.

Step 8:: When you're outside the cave while following the road, 3 Frost Wurms will pop up. Again, use your reposites and ViM! wisely.

Red dots: Ice Wurms
Good luck killing them and don't forget to kill the group Crone's at the end of the way.
Step 9:
Make your way down to all the Ice Golems, Pinesouls, Ice Imps etc. untill you're in Dreadnoughts Drift.
__________________________________________________ _______________

Snake Dance

Snake Dance is the second place i'll solo.

Drops: Lots of armors and mountain trolls tusks. Also long swords and other stuff which can be sold to the merchant for 50gp or more.
Equipment:
Flatbow
Zealous sword of Defense +15% dmg (while in a stance)
Zealous sword of Defense 15^50
+30 hp / -5 (20% change) shield
+45 hp / -2 while in a stance shield
+60 hp / -3 while hexed shield
Armor:
Full Gladiators with Ascalon helm.
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:

Sprint
Sever Artery
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Gladiator's Defense
Physical Resistance
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

*Note: In my screenshots you'll see the skill Elemental Resistance in stead of Physical Resistance, use PR*

Step 1: When you enter Snake Dance, take the right way and you'll see 2 Blessed Griffons. Try to lure them so the Azure Shadows won't pop up. After you killed those Griffons using your reposites, walk forward until the Shadows pop up. Use Dolyak Signet so you won't be knocked-down while they cast their Signet of Judgement.
Step 2: After you killed them you'll see alot of groups with 1 Dolyak Master and 3 Summit Giant Herders. Attack the Dolyak Master and use your ripostes against the Herders. Do not try to kill the Dolyak Master; its useless.

Step 3: Follow the road untill you see the huge group of Mountain Trolls. Try to lure them in smaller groups but don't worry if you agro them all: cast Physical Resistance and Dolyak Signet and take your +45hp / -2 stance shield. Again, use your Ripostes and Gladiators Defense wisely.

Step 4: Make your way through the cave and kill the other Mountain Trolls. When you go to the left you'll see some Tundra Giants. Kill them again with your mighty Ripostes. *Note: Tundra Giants will use melee attacks when you stand next to them.*.

Step 5: Just follow the road to the west and keep killing all the Tundra Giants and Azure Shadows with the tactics I gave you.
__________________________________________________ _______________

Grenth's Footprint

First of all I want to say that i should never be able to solo GF without this build: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3006532 Made my Lambda the Great.
I changed some skills though but using Grenth's Balance was a godly idea. Thank you Lambda.
PS: You can better read Lambda's thread than this part of the Solo Tour, Lambda is more experienced in soloing GF then me. Although here is my way to solo GF.

Drops: Greens! Also summit axes and armors drop here a lot. Many gold drops too.
Equipment: +20%Dmg (Hexed) Zealous sword of Dwarvenslaying

+30 hp / -2 while in a stance shield
+60 hp / -3 while hexed shield
Armor:
Full Gladiators with Ascalon helm.
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:

Grenth's Balance
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Sever Artery
Final Thrust
Distracting Blow
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

Step 1: When you enter Grenth's Footprint, walk down and lure the first group of mobs with a bow. The dwarf at the top of the hill will follow, and heal you. Use your Ripostes on the Carvers and your Sever Artery on the Rangers. Slay the Ice Golems with your Final Thrust. Do not use Sever Artery on the Gnashers, they will cast Plague Touch.
Step 2: Fight your way down to the Highpriest and accept his quest. Now you have a personal Dwarven-monk.
Keep fighting using the tactics i gave you. So far I was able to kill the following bosses:
Thorgall Bludgeonhammer

Flint Fleshcleaver

Gorrel Rockmolder

Morgriff Shadestone

Again, this part of the Solo Tour could not be done without Lambda. Thank you!
__________________________________________________ _______________

Ice Floe

Not done yet, I'm only be able to kill a couple mursaat and all the ice imps.

Ice Imps
Mursaat

Will be Continued

__________________________________________________ _______________

Iron Mines of Moladune

Drops: Lots of White Mantle and Mursaat stuff: badges, white scytes, hornbows and armors. Also mountain troll tusks can be found here
Equipment:
Flatbow
Zealous sword of Defense +15% dmg (while in a stance)
Zealous sword of Defense 15^50
+30 hp / -2 while in a stance shield
+60 hp / -3 while hexed shield
Armor:
Full Gladiators with Ascalon helm.
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:

Sprint

Sever Artery
Gash // Bonetti's Defense
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Grenth's Balance
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

Step 1: When you start the mission and walk a little bit forward you'll see White Mantles vs Stone Summit, you may kill them if you want but that is not nessecary. If you dont want to kill them, you can just run.

Step 2: Walk down and take the right way on the icy river, you'll see some Tundra Giants and also some Azure Shadows will pop up.

Step 3: Just follow the road and kill all the other Tundra Giants and Mountain Trolls.

Step 4: When you can choose between 2 different routes, you can take the left or the right.
Left way: this is the shortest way, you'll will see some Stone Summits fighting with White Mantles so you can again just run past them.
Right way: this is the longest way, you'll see some White Mantles, just kill them

Step 5: Slonak Copperbark. You'll face this dude when you're down the hill. Just kill him using Grenths Balance, riposte and deadly riposte.*Note: only use Grenths Balance while your health is below 150!*

Step 6: Go straight on untill you see an entrance at the right, enter it, follow the road, and killl the Mountain Trolls.
Step 7: When you see a bridge, just go straight on and do not go to the left. Now you'll encounter some Blesssed Griffons. Watch out for their Symbol of Wrath and use your ripostes.

Step 8: Follow the road untill you see the boss: Balt Duskstrider. some Azure Nightmares will pop up too. This part might be hard but use your Grenth's Balance on Balt Duskstrider and your ripostes and you'll will be fine.
Step 9: Use sprint while running into the cave, a lot of Azure Nightmares will pop up. Just run untill you see the moviescreen. You're at the seer now

Step 10: Kill Ceru Gloomrunner

Step 11: Kill the Eidolon and the other Azure Nightmares with your Ripostes.

Step 12:After you returned the Spectral Essence to the seer, continue killing Mursaat and White Mantles all the way to Markis

Me vs Markis

Almost got him..I took of my armor so i could use Grenth's Balance faster but I didn't pay enough attention at the end and he killed me with a critical hit

Another build though..will show it soon when I'm 100% done with tweaking it
__________________________________________________ _______________

Witmans Folly

Drops: Armors! Got 1 minor vigor, strength and tactics on my first run. Intricate Grawl Necklaces drops here a lot which can be sold to the collector near the entrance of Port Sledge
Equipment:
Flatbow
Zealous sword of Defense +15% dmg (while in a stance)
Zealous sword of Defense 15^50
+30hp / -5 (20% change) shield
+45hp / -2 stance shield
Armor:
Full gladiators with Ascalon helm
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:

Power Attack
Final Thrust
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Gladiator's Defense
Elemental Resistance
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

Step 1: When you walk out of Port Sledge, go to the right and kill all the Grawls if they are there. If they dont spawn there, kill all the Azure Shadows using your reposites which will pop up after a short walk. Also use your Elemental Resistance here and switch to your +45 hp / -2 stance shield.

Step 2: Follow the road and kill all the other Azure Shadows using the same tactics as i gave u above. *Note: Make sure that Dolyak Signet and Elemental Resistance are always on while fighting the Shadows*

You can leave Maak Frostfriend alive if you face him.
Step 3: Make your way through all the other shadows untill you are at the famous place with Crawls all over the place.

Step 4: First you've to kill all the Crawls using your Ripostes and Gladiators Defense. After that u can cast Elemental Resistance and switch to your +45hp / -2 stance shield to kill the Crawl Crones
*Note: You probaly have seen another build in these screenshots then I wrote above. Use the skill set I've written above, the Crones will use plague signet* The screenshots after this sentence will show u the correct build.

Just kill all the Grawls and the Crawl Crones in your way. If you think a group is to big, try to lure some of them to make it easier.
__________________________________________________ _______________

Tasca's Demise

Drops: Drops are good; fellblades, summit axes, summit hammers and a lot of dwarven armors which will salvage into steel ingots.
Equipment: +20%Dmg (Hexed) Zealous sword of Dwarvenslaying

+30 hp / -2 while in a stance shield
+60 hp / -3 while hexed shield
Armor:
Full Gladiators with Ascalon helm.
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:
I have tried 2 builds yet and they both work fine.

Skill set 1:

Grenth's Balance
Bonetti's Defense
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Distracting Blow
Plague Touch
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

Skill set 2:

Sever Artery
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Gladiator's Defense {E}
Elemental Resistance
Physical Resistance
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

Both of the skill sets are OK but Skill set 2 is easier IMO. I'm not able yet to clear all of Tasca's Demise but i've already done a part of it.

Step 1: When you enter Tasca's Demise, run to the right wall so you avoid the "ambush". Take a break at the Res shrine untill you see a dwarven patrol coming your way.

Kill them using either Physical Resistance, Dolyak Signet and your ripostes or your ripostes and Grenths Balance. *Note: only use healing signet when either Bonettie's Defense or Gladiators Defense is on!* Use Sever Artery or Plague Touch on the rangers.
Step 2: Now you've killed the patrol, head back to the 2 groups of Dwarves. Lure the first group with your flatbow and try to stay behind the wall so the Rangers/Gnashers won't hit you.

Step 3: You can do the same with the second group but you can better leave them there in case you die. You can get rid of your DP here easy. Now turn around untill you see the large group of Stone Summit. This is a hard part and you might die. There should be 2 gnashers and 5-6 warriors in this group. Leave the gnashers and cast Physical Resistance and Dolyak Signet. Kill the warriors with your Ripostes and Gladiators Defense.

After you killed all the warriors, walk back because there will be a lot of Bone Fiends. If you died, you can kill the second group in the begin of Tasca's Demise. You can also wait a minute so the Bone Fiends will be dead when you return. Now there are only 2 Gnashers left. Kill them.

Ok now go straight on untill you see a large bridge. Wait there and a patrol with 1 Dolyak Master, Herders and some Carves will come your way.

Use Gladiators Defense and your Ripostes so the Master don't know who to heal.

Step 5: Now, you won't be able to kill the Dolyak Master (you should be able to do it with the Grenth's Balance build but it will take some time). Head back, lure some other dwarves and keep on killing with the same tactics i gave you.
You can also head back and take the right way so you'll face 3 Ice Golems. This is hard but if you use Elemental Resistance and Dolyak Signet, you can kill them.

Here is a map with some details:

Red: Dwarven Ambush
Blue: Dwarven Patrols
Yellow: Ice Golems.
__________________________________________________ _______________

Talus Chute

Drops: Fellblades, armors which you can salvage into steel and leather, Long Swords and other stuff which you can sell for 50 + to the merchant.

Equipment:
Flatbow
Zealous sword of Defense +15% dmg (while in a stance)
Zealous sword of Defense 15^50
+30hp / -5 (20% change) shield
+45hp / -2 stance shield
Armor:
Full Gladiators with Ascalon helm.
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:

Sever Artery
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Gladiator's Defense {E}
Elemental Resistance
Physical Resistance
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

Step 1: When you enter Talus Chute, go straight on untill you see the first group of Avicara. Sometimes there might be some Mountain Trolls too. Kill the warriors using your Ripostes and the Archers using Sever Artery.

Step 2: Take the left way into the famous Mountain Troll Cave. You can either lure a group or take them all at once. Use Physical Resistance and Dolyak Signet to take minumum damage. Kill them using Gladiators Defense and your Ripostes.

Step 3: Now you can take the left or the right way. You'll face Krogg Smush or Whuump Wuumbuul. Kill them with Sever Artery and your Ripostes.

Step 4: Take the right exit of the Troll Cave and you'll face some Tundra Giants. Finish them.

Step 5:Now kill all the other foes you see but watch out for the Avicara groups with Avicara Wise, they'll use Ineptitude. Only use the Ripostes and Gladiators Defense but don't attack them.

Step 6: Keep on moving untill you see a big Fort with allot of Crawls in it. Here you can get the Icebreaker. Kill the Mighty Crawls with your Ripostes and the Barbed Crawls just by slashing them with your sword.

Step 7: Now just clear everything of Talus Chute. You can kill Ice Golums using Elemental Resistance and Dolyak Signet.

Blue dots: Avicara
Black dots: Mountain Trolls
Yellow dots: Tundra Giants
Red dots: Crawls
White dots: Ice Golems

Mineral Springs

First of all, I'm not 100% done with this build, its still hard to kill the Avicara groups with the Ardent, Wise, Guile and the Braves. Anyway, this is what I did:

Equipment:
Flatbow
Zealous sword of Defense +15% dmg (while in a stance)
Zealous sword of Defense 15^50
+30hp / -5 (20% change) shield
+45hp / -2 stance shield
Armor:
Full gladiators with Ascalon helm
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:

Sprint
Sever Artery
Riposte
Gladiator's Defense {E}
Elemental Resistance
Physical Resistance
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

Step 1: When you enter Tasca's Demise, use sprint to get past the ambush. go straight on using sprint untill you see a large bridge. Dont go to the left but walk a little bit forward untill you see a second entrance to the bridge, use sprint en run past the stone summit group. Take a break at this point untill the patrol is away from you.

Step 2: When the patrol is gone, take the right way. You might die here but that's ok, you'll be spawned near the entrance to Mineral Springs
Step 3: Ok, now you've entered Mineral Springs ther're a view I'm going to learn you. When you see the group of Avicara Fierce and Brave, lure them using your flatbow and go to this point: the Fierces can't hit you there so you only have to focus yourself on the Braves using Physical Resistance, Dolyak and your Ripostes.

*Note: when attacking the Fierces, dont forgot the use Elemental Resistance, now their Ignite Arrows are almost useless.*
Step 4: Take the right way untill you see the second group of Fierces and Braves. Here's the also the second spot for a trick.

Step 5: Now go on and you'll see a 3th group of Fierces and Braves Here's also the 3th spot where you'll apply my trick.

Step 6: Move on and kill all the other groups you'll see. Try to use the enviroment like I did.
Step 7: When you see the second res shire, take the right way and you'l see some Tundra Giants. Kill them using Physical Resistance, Dolyak Signet and your Ripostes.

Step 8: Watch out for Frost Wurms. U can kill them using your Ripostes and Gladiators Defense. Don't forget to use Dolyak Signet and Physical Resistance here.

Step 9: Take the entrance into the cave and run past the group with the boss.
Step 10: You can take the other way back killing all the other foe's using the same tactics which I gave you. Watch out for the balanced groups of Ardents, Wises, Guiles, Braves and Fierces. However, you can kill these groups also using the enviroment.

As you can see, the Guile stays at the bottom of the hill and he does't attack me
Step 11: The famous Ice Imp cave can be cleared using Elemental Resistance, Dolyak Signet and Sever Artery. Watch out here! They might be harder then expected so kill 2, run back and regen and so on.

Blue dots: Avicara
Black dots: Tundra Giants
Yellow dots: Wrost Furms
Red dots: Ice Imps
__________________________________________________ ______________

Ice Caves of Sorrow

*Note: Make sure u are 100% Infused*

Equipment:
Flatbow
Zealous sword of Defense +15% dmg (while in a stance)
Zealous sword of Defense 15^50
+30hp / -5 (20% change) shield
+45hp / -2 stance shield
Armor:
Full gladiators with Ascalon helm
Attribute points:
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Swordmanship 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (12+3)

Skills:

Sprint
Sever Artery
Gash
Epidemic
Victory is Mine! {E}
Elemental Resistance
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet

*This is the first movie I've ever made so don't blame me* It shows the first part before you enter the bridge.
Ice Caves of Sorrow Part 1

The second part shows how to kill the groups with 2 Stone Summit Heretics and the beast.
Ice Caves of Sorrow Part 2

Step 1: Enter the Ice Caves of Sorrow mission and run forward. You'll see a group of 3 Mursaat Elementalist and some Ice Imps patrolling. If there is a Mursaat Necromancer, skip the group. Otherwise sprint to the Mursaat so they stick together and cast Elemental Resistance and Dolyak Signet. Use Sever Artery, Gash, Epedemic and ViM to kill them. Use the same tactics on the Ice Imps and the other foe's in the area. Make your way down untill you see a bridge. *Note: Do not kill the catapult guards*
Step 2: Cross the bridge using sprint and you'll end with around 100hp left.

Step 3: Lure the groups of White Mantle with your flatbow and kill them using again the same tactics.

Step 4: Go straight on and you'll see a Gate which can be opened using the Dwarven Powder Keg Station. Kill the White Mantles who are defending it.

Step 5: Use the bomb to blow up the door and kill all the White Mantles and Mursaat inside the Ice Cave. Use the second Dwarven Powder Keg Station to blow up the second Gate. *Do not blow the prison*
Step 6: When you walk outside and you the large group of Mursaat, let them pass by and lure the last one with your Flatbow and kill them.

Step 7: Continue killing the mursaat using your flatbow and your sword.

Step 8: Follow the road and you'll see a boat with some dwarves and a Boss. Kill him and there you are. You finished The Ice Caves of Sorrow mission.

Good luck!

I'll add more places soon, hope you enjoyed my Solo Tour Guide

Iron Mines of Moladune and Grenth's Footprint can be done without Grenth's Balance, they can also be done with the same build if you want And I'm pretty sure that I can do Iron Mines of Moladune and Grenth's Footprint with my first build which I used to solo Lornar's Pass

I'll try Tasca's now, will add screenshots of it and the other places soon

I was going to ask you guys if the recent update made any real difference anywhere. Thanks for answring in advance (and in such detail). I only played around in Whitmans Folly and didnt have too much trouble, maybe a little harder than it used to be. I also got 2 FDS in one run there (both blue merchant material).

Only place I am still curious about is the IDS run. Are the massed Ice Imps to much without the absorption? I have not done any mesmer builds yet, looks like I need to try that now. Elemental resistance may do the trick.

All these builds and screenshots were made AFTER the recent update so u shouln't have any problems.

It's still possible it's just harder. Make sure u've Elemental Resistance, Dolyak Signet and Watch Yourself! always on. I tried some Ice Imps in Ice Floe for some practice:

Icedome is indeed impossable to solo, or run for that matter. The WHOLE FRIGGIN MOB attacks you if you attack ONE stone summit, no way any build can handle that kind of damage, no way.

These are nice builds/guides for soloing the Southern Shiverpeaks. I have to try them sometime. Gl with all the rest especially ICEDOME. That place is pure evil. I'm confident you'd be able to solo it tho.

Very nice builds and thread.

I recently came up with a build to farm Ettins, while doing this I stumbled upon your ViM farming method. However I found that its possible to do that Vim farming with either a sword or an axe
Axe ViM:
Dismember
Axe Twist
Axe Rake
Disrupting Chop
Epidemic
Victory is Mine {E}
Dolyak Signet
Phys Resistance or Sprint

But as you stated yours is for Shiverpeaks, sadly I was unable to find the time to test the build on other creatures besides Ettins . I'm glad to see that this build works elsewhere just fine. Great builds and I encourage you to keep it up. Perhaps try and test this and other builds elsewhere, like Cantha
